Essential, Inc.

Principal Engineer and Program Manager [November 2003 – May 2009]

Essential is a Boston-based product development firm comprised of highly experienced user reseachers, industrial designers, and mechanical engineers. This small, agile team is focused on providing their clients with top-quality design deliverables, as well as exceptional program management skills. My role as Principal Engineer included program management of projects both large and small, some of which were engineering specific but most involved the integration of research and design. I was also the technical leader on each of the programs that I managed, outlining the product requirements, defining the system architectures, and setting the engineering design directions for a wide range of products. In addition to project work, I also participated in business development activities (project scoping and proposal writing) and was developing an ISO13485-compliant Quality System for use on medical device programs.

Fitch:Worldwide

Senior Engineer and Program Manager [December 1997 – October 2003]

During my time in Fitch’s Boston office, Fitch was considered one of the world’s preeminent product development firms. I began my career in this fast-paced and challenging environment, honing my engineering design and CAD development skills as an individual contributor on a variety of projects. Quickly, though, I also began to manage small programs and lead the technical aspects of much larger projects, gaining essential engineering and program management experience along the way. Ultimately, I was leading a cross-functional, multi-location team on one of the company’s largest projects.
